Beginner Tai Chi- Level 1

A Therapy Option Wellness Program with Nancy M. Parambo MS. LMT

Wednesdays from April 10- May 8, 2024 10-11am

Enjoy the “essence of inner peace with ‘Beginner Tai Chi -Level 1.’”

Through slow, mindful movements, Tai Chi has the ability to strengthen joints, and improve balance, flexibility and coordination. The practice can also increase energy and promote relaxation.

Class will consist of Tai Chi forms with movement and breathwork. There will also be an introduction to Qi Gong!

Each week we will review previously learned forms and slowly integrate new movement patterns into our practice. No prior Tai Chi background is necessary. Class is open to all levels of ability!

Please pre-register. Space is limited. Wear comfortable clothes. NO recording of any class activities.

One hour of arts and crafts fun every Wednesday at 5pm. Recommended for ages 2-8, but all are welcome.

Day 1: Create your textured background image on a 16×20 inch canvas.

Items will take at least one session to finish. Items will not be ready to take home until they are fired in the kiln. Turn around time after glazing is about 2 weeks.

The Stitch presents the Tamaqua Arts Center Big Benefit Concert. The Big Benefit is the Tamaqua Arts Center’s largest fundraiser of the year! It is a one night only event where we celebrate our volunteers and donors in a fun and lively atmosphere fostered by community spirit.

Micah & The Loose Threads with special guest stars returning for the Big Benefit’s 10^th Anniversary. Greg Dobash, MD, Ron Feltenberger, Aimee Hegedus, Alicen Hull, Zac Yenser, and Chris Morrison will take the stage to entertain us for the evening, along with bar service and passed canapés.

Because of your support, we will raise much-needed funds to keep the mission of the Arts Center alive.

Join Elena Lagana to make a beautiful glass and tile mosaic jewelry box with matching micro mosaic pendant. Students will glue and grout their projects in a single session. This workshop is suitable for ages 15+ and is beginner friendly. BYOB friendly for 21+. $85. All supplies included.

Join Debbi Zavnut from Baskets in the Woods to create a simple folded rim, 8”x8” X 6”, continuous weave basket bowl. Students will use a variety of green colors, smoked, and natural rattan reeds.

This makes a nice plant holder or small roll basket.

Please bring a pencil, measuring tape and an old towel. All other supplies and materials will be supplied. Ages 16+

Mosaic Garden Stepping stone measures 12”x12”x1.5”. Participants will mosaic a square concrete stepping stone suitable for outdoor use, using materials such as stained glass, ceramic tiles, and glass gems, with thinset adhesive. Absloute (level 1) will work with pre-cut pieces, while experienced students (level 2) will utilize tools to cut their own background pieces. Students are encouraged to unleash their creativity by designing their own mosaic and selecting their preferred colors. All supplies included. $150.

Kids Theatre Camp | Ages 7 to 13 | July 15th to 19th from 9am till 1pm | Kids give live performance in free showcase for family and friends on Friday, July 19th at 5pm. Each day will include drama, improv, musical theatre, and movement. Each child will receive a t-shirt and script book to keep. Campers should pack a lunch each day. Kids Varied Arts and Pottery Camp | Ages 8 to 14 | July 22nd to 26th from 9am till 1pm | Kids will hold an art show for family and friends on Friday, July 26th at 5pm.
