Introduction to Wheel Throwing

August 15th, 22nd, 29th and September 5th

4-Sessions on Saturdays from 11am-1pm

Join local teaching artist Abby Shumgart for a 4-week pottery wheel class. A great class for beginning potters and intermediates looking for a refresher. This 4-week class will offer a focus on basic throwing techniques and creating simple forms like cylinders, mugs and bowls. You will learn about trimming and adding handles to increase the functionality of your work, as well as glazing. By the end of this class, you will have the foundation you need to create your own exciting and functional pottery.

Please bring your own towel, don’t wear dangling jewelry or flowy sleeves, long hair should be pulled back and please, no flip flops! The floors can get slippery. If you have very long nails, you may find wheel throwing difficult. Be prepared to get dirty, but the good news is, the clay washes right out of your clothes!

Ages 8 and older welcome! Limited to 5 students.

Price is for all 4 classes for a one-time payment.
